The Jersey Stags organization was founded in 2009. In early 2010, it was announced that the team was formally accepted into the Big North East Football Federation (BNEFF). The BNEFF is the most competitive adult minor league on the east coast and boasts 6 of the top 10 nationally ranked football teams in the nation. The Stags were introduced to the public in march of 2010 and signed an agreement to play the 2010 season in Skylands Park in Augusta New Jersey. The Stags were lead by Head Coach Gary Haase whom lead the team to an 8-1 regular season record in their innaugural year followed by a 4-4 season in 2011. The Stags were crowned the 2010 BNEFF Empire East Divisional Champions where the Stags earned a first round bye in the conference playoffs losing in the second round 16-11 to the Brooklyn Mariners.
